Parks = Recreation!

The first days of spring are finally here. With the cold winter the Eastern Shore has had this year, warmer weather is definitely welcome. And with everything a bit more green, what better way to spend an afternoon than outside soaking up that spring sun. On the days you aren't spending at any of the nearby by beaches, try a day at the park!

All across the Eastern Shore there are gorgeous parks that would make a perfect destination for an afternoon picnic or some frisbee. Fairhope's Municipal Park is located at the end of Fairhope Ave. Bring a blanket and lay out on the lawn or throw up your hammock on any of the trees, this park is perfect or anything requiring the outdoors. The Fairhope Pier is also at the park and is home to some of the best views on the coast.

If you have kids, The Fort is going to be a fun trip for you. It's any kids dream to be the king or queen of your our castle, and at The Fort, dreams come true! Walking up to the park, it looks like a lumberjack got a hold of the imagination of a 7 year old and went to town. A day out with the kids would be well spent playing on these wooden castles. The Fort is located right behind Spanish Fort City Hall of Ember Lane and is waiting for your visit!

Blakeley State Park in Daphne is another great place to spend some time in the outdoors. If you're into history take a trip into the past and learn about Blakeley's rich history. With boat tours and nature trails, there is an endless amount of things to do the state park. And if you aren't up for structured tours, take some time to be adventurous and explore the endless woodlands nestled with the park. Check out Blakely's web site here for more information on tours and special events.

With the weather getting better, take some time soon to spend outside relaxing! Any of these spots will make for a great afternoon. Feel free to comment and let us know what you think about these places!
